How do I become a seafaring member?

Whether you are just starting your career or already have many nautical miles in your logbook: as a maritime member of Haus Seefahrt, you will become part of a foundation steeped in tradition that champions people in the maritime industry – both now and in the past.
This is not about prestige, but about solidarity. As a member, you will be part of a network of captains who take responsibility, support each other, and help shape the connection between their profession and society. For younger captains and nautical officers in particular, membership is an opportunity to network with Bremen’s maritime community at an early stage – and to play an active role in shaping it.
New members are usually approached by existing ones – or they contact me directly. What matters is this: we truly welcome new faces, especially younger captains. Because the foundation thrives on the commitment of every generation. And once you are part of it, you quickly realise: Haus Seefahrt is more than just an old institution – it is a piece of home, firmly anchored on land.
How do I become a commercial member?
Committed personalities from business and society
Commercial members of Haus Seefahrt are individuals who have rendered outstanding services to Bremen’s economy and the common good. Membership is considered an honor and an expression of special appreciation – it is not the result of an application, but rather an election by existing members.
It is not possible to apply for membership yourself. Instead, you must be nominated by an existing member and accepted through a regulated election process.
